Poster Caption: This panoramic photograph of Old Faithful was taken by James Blakeway. It features Old Faithful Geyser, the world’s most renowned geyser. In the distance at the far right is the early morning steam of some of the many geysers of the Upper Geyser Basin. Old Faithful is located in Yellowstone National Park, established in 1872 as America’s first national park. Yellowstone National Park has a wide variety of wildlife including bison, which can be seen roaming near Old Faithful. Geysers form as surface water seeps down through porous rock layers to be heated under pressure. The heated water and steam then rises back up as geysers.
