In the lower center of the panorama with its enormous copper dome is the Berlin Cathedral, an impressive 19th-century cathedral. Berlin, Germany Skyline Pictures

Berlin skyline pictures showcase the capital city of Germany, and one of the jewels of Europe - home to over 3.5 million residents. It is the 9th most populated metropolitan area in the European Union. Positioned on the River Spree in northeastern Germany, Berlin panoramic pictures proudly display one of the country's most powerful cities, with a documented history dating back to the 1200s.

There are many remarkable examples of architecture to be seen in Berlin, but perhaps the most iconic is the Brandenburg Gate. This famous structure can even be seen on Germany's 10, 20 and 50 cent Euro coins. The Brandenburg Gate is the only one of 14 original gates still standing in the city, and was built in the 1700s. Seated at the end of the famous Unter den Linden, this street was once the city's premiere avenue. Past the Brandenburg Gate is Berlin's largest park, Tiergarten, which houses one of the best vantage points of the city. It holds many famous monuments and memorials dedicated to the soldiers killed during World War II.

The Reichstag building, traditionally been used to house German Parliament, is another famous landmark of Berlin. Originally built in the late 1800s, the Reichstag was significantly damaged during World War II and restored during the 1960s. Its glass dome roof, placed in the 1990s, is a striking new feature. In remarkable contrast to the classical architecture of the Reichstag is the modern Palast de Republic, once the parliament building of former East Germany.

Berlin, Germany panoramic city skyline pictures continue to hold fascination today for one of Europe's most beautiful cities, world-famous for being a center of media, culture, science and political influence. The urban setting seen in Berlin pictures, combined with its historical legacy, continues to draw numbers of tourists and lovers of European culture to the city each year. Displaying a Berlin panorama is the perfect way to remember your time in this city, or dream of a future visit.
