This panorama of the Montreal Canadiens playing on home ice was taken by James Blakeway. Established in 1909, the Canadiens are the longest continuously operating professional ice hockey team, as well as one of the oldest sports franchises in North America. They are the only existing NHL® club to predate the founding of the NHL in 1917, and are one of the Original Six™ teams that composed the NHL for 25 seasons (1942-1967). As of 2011, the Canadiens were still by far the NHL's most successful club, having won a record 24 Stanley Cup® Championships since its inception.
