Text on Panorama
This aerial panoramic photograph of New York was taken by Christopher Gjevre. It features the soon-to-be completed One World Trade Center, formerly called “Freedom Tower.” Upon completion, it will be the tallest building in the U.S., with its 408-foot satellite needle. The new tower is surrounded by the area known as Lower Manhattan, which is flanked on the left by the Hudson River and on the right by the East River. As you look north along the East River, you will see the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges. Pictured to the far left in the foreground are Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty and, in the far right foreground is Governors Island.
