Text on Panorama
This panorama, taken by Christopher Gjevre, portrays the excitement and atmosphere at a game between Stanford and Notre Dame, two schools with a deep college football tradition. Stanford, known as the Cardinal for the color of its deep red uniforms, was founded in 1891 and began playing football only a year later, with the first Big Game against rival Cal-Berkeley. In the years to follow, Stanford became known for its excellence in academics, as one of the world’s premier universities, and for its heritage in athletics as the Home of Champions. Stanford University is located on 8,180 acres in Stanford, California, and is a private research university.
