Text on Panorama
This panorama, taken by James Blakeway, captures the inaugural Heroes Game between the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. This is the first of what should be a competitive and entertaining rivalry between two schools from neighboring states that possess great tradition and history. Part of the Heroes Game festivities is a ceremony honoring the citizen Hero of the Year from each state. The Heroes Game Trophy includes a football adorned with laurel leaves, a symbol of heroism today and used in ancient Greece to award the victors of the Olympic Games. The Cornhuskers walked away with the trophy and the win, defeating the Hawkeyes 20-7.
