Albany, New York Panoramic Skyline Picture - Twilight

SKU: ANY1
This panoramic photograph of Albany was taken by James Blakeway. The Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza is the brightly lit complex that houses many of New York's state offices. The tallest building is the 44-story Corning Tower. The Meeting Center, referred to as the "Egg", is the only curvilinear building in the complex and contains two auditoriums. Henry Hudson, for whom the Hudson River is named, discovered Albany while seeking a shorter route to the far-east in 1609. The city, first settled by the Dutch in 1624, became the capital of the state of New York in 1797.

Albany, New York City Skyline Wall Decor

Albany skyline pictures feature one of the oldest cities in the nation, settled in 1614. While Albany city pictures capture the state's capital, it is significantly smaller than the more famous New York City. Our Albany, NY city wall prints have documented its key role in trade and transportation in the Northeast.

Albany city skyline panoramas dramatically changed in the 1960s with the construction of the Empire State Plaza. This collection of office buildings dominates any Albany skyline pictures. The most iconic building in this complex is Erastus Corning Tower, reaching 589 feet in height. Another famous structure commonly associated with Albany city skyline pictures is the Meeting Center, commonly called the "Egg" by city residents.

While Albany skyline wall art shows a uniquely modern landscape, it also captures its important place in U.S. history. Albany has seen events in U.S. history prior to the founding of the nation, flooding with Dutch, German and English immigrants even a century before the Revolutionary War. Considering the historical significance of the region, it's easy to see why the sprawling city shown in Albany skyline pictures continues to hold the fascination of so many to this day.
