The University of Florida was founded in 1853 and is one of the few public land-grant, sea-grant and space-grant research universities in the United States. Located in Gainesville, Florida, fans of the University's athletics program are collectively referred to as "Gator Nation". The Florida Gators have 21 varsity teams, with football and basketball commonly being the most popular. For several decades, the Florida Gators have been frequently recognized among the top ten collegiate sports programs in the nation.
With over a century of play, the Florida Gators football team has one of the strongest backgrounds in NCAA Division I history. Florida football panoramas capture a storied program with claim to dozens of bowl games, national and conference championship titles. Florida Gators panoramas capture home play at Steve Spurrier-Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, and is recognized as one of the most challenging collegiate football venues. Nicknamed "The Swamp", Ben Hill Griffin Stadium pictures capture over 88,000 fans cheering in conditions that frequently exceed 100 degrees. The venue is also notoriously loud, which in addition to the heat, make it difficult for rivals to withstand.
Panoramic photography of the views from O'Connell Center during Florida Gators basketball games are also popular with fans. The arena is full of fans in blue and orange as they cheer on the team to victory, with the comical student section - dubbed the "Rowdy Reptiles" - frequently filled with hilariously costumed fans. The Florida basketball team, similar to the football program, has made numerous NCAA tournament appearances, and has taken many championships over the years.
