This panorama portrays the Pittsburgh Steelers playing the New York Jets at Heinz Field. The Steelers’ inaugural season in the National Football League was 1933, and the franchise – founded by Art Rooney Sr. and subsequently headed by his son, Dan, and his grandson, Art II – is the only one to have won six Lombardi trophies. The Steelers have employed only three head coaches since 1969, and each of the three – Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin – have won at least one Super Bowl. In the first 15 years of Heinz Field’s existence – it opened for the 2001 season – the Steelers won seven division titles and two Super Bowls, while qualifying for the playoffs 10 times.

This panorama features the Pittsburgh Steelers playing at Heinz Field. The Pittsburgh club was founded in 1933, by Arthur Joseph Rooney, who laid the groundwork for a football dynasty. In 1940, the club’s name was changed to “Steelers” to represent the city’s dominant steel industry. The Steelers official Steelmark logo is based on the steel industry and features three hypocycloids, yellow for coal, orange for ore and blue for steel scrap. In the 1978 season, the Steelers became the first NFL franchise to win three Super Bowls; in the 1979 season, they were the first to win four; and in the 2008 season, they were the first to win six. The Steelers are also the only NFL franchise to have won back-to-back Super Bowls twice.
