This latest renovation focused on the south end zone experience and includes many new amenities for Sooner fans. Bench seating on the corners completes the seating bowl and a new 8,750 square-foot video board tops the end zone, further enhancing "The Palace on the Prairie". For this game, Sooner fans dressed in crimson red & white in alternating sections to "stripe the stadium" and show their support.

This panorama, taken by James Blakeway, highlights the Oklahoma Sooners hosting the Baylor Bears in a key Big 12 Conference matchup at the Lloyd Noble Center. The Oklahoma Sooners men’s basketball team began play in the LNC in 1975 and, since that time, over four million fans have walked through the doors in anticipation of a Sooner victory. The building currently seats 11,562 fans, but on December 29, 2003, capacity swelled to accommodate a record crowd of 13,431. The University of Oklahoma is home to one of the most storied intercollegiate athletics programs in the nation. However, it’s the distinctiveness of the Sooner spirit that sets them apart – There’s Only One Oklahoma!

Sooner fans were out in force and showed their passion and support at this nationally televised event by “Striping the Stadium,” with even-numbered sections wearing crimson and odd-numbered sections wearing white. Oklahoma’s football program began in 1895, with the team called Rough Riders or Boomers, before changing their nickname to Sooners in 1908. The Oklahoma Sooners hold the record for the longest winning streak in Division I-FBS history.

This aerial panoramic photograph, taken by Christopher Gjevre, commemorates the 70th consecutive home sellout of the OU Sooner football team playing at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium at Owen Field. The first game at this site took place in 1923. The field was named after Bennie Owen, OU's head coach at the time, who became a charter member of the National Football Hall of Fame. Opened in 1925, the original iteration of the OU Memorial Stadium had only 16,000 seats. Today, Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium is one of America's most recognized football stadiums and ranks among the 20 largest on-campus facilities in the nation with an official capacity of 82,112.

This panorama, taken by James Blakeway, captures one of college football's biggest rivalries, the Red River Rivalry, played by Big 12 opponents The University of Oklahoma Sooners and The University of Texas Longhorns. The game is played annually on neutral turf at the Cotton Bowl, located at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas, which is conveniently located halfway between Austin, TX and Norman, OK. These teams first met in 1900 and played off-campus several times until moving permanently to the fairgrounds in 1915. The Red River forms part of the boundary between Texas and Oklahoma. Tickets are split 50-50 between the two teams with the stadium divided along the 50 yard line.

Since 1945, one or both of the two teams has gone into the contest ranked among the top 25 teams more than 90 percent of the time. The Red River Rivalry® takes place during the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park located in Dallas, Texas. Three trophies get exchanged depending on the outcome of the game – The Golden Hat (a gold, ten-gallon cowboy hat); the Red River Rivalry® trophy (kept by the student government of the winning school); and the Governor's Trophy.

The University of Oklahoma's athletics teams are known as the Oklahoma Sooners, and feature over a dozen varsity teams in the Big 12 Conference in NCAA Division I. The "Sooner" nickname was given to those who took advantage of the Land Rush of 1889 that populated Oklahoma.
