Moscow, Russia Skyline Pictures

As the capital city and most populated area of Russia, Moscow is also the most populated city in Europe, sixth-largest city in the world and home to the greatest concentration of billionaires. With an impressive capital area of over 900 square miles, Moscow city skyline panoramas display an amazing metropolis with an impressive collection of Eastern European architecture.

The most famous tourist destination is the Red Square: a city square surrounded by many of Moscow's most recognizable buildings. The most iconic is St. Basil's Cathedral, built during the mid-1500s on command of Ivan the Terrible. St. Basil is a unique element of Moscow photos as it has an asymmetrical, staggered design with multicolored geometrical designs on its facade. Lenin's Mausoleum is another famous landmark also located in Red Square. It is the resting place of Vladimir Lenin's embalmed remains, which have been on public display for the majority of the time since 1924. Spasskaya Tower, or "Savior Tower", is another famous site nearby; it is a through-passage to the Kremlin, a historic fortified structure overlooking the Moskva River. Within the Kremlin is the Cathedral of the Assumption, easily identified by its white facade and gold-domed roofs.

As one of the greatest cities in the world, it's easy to see why this magnificent city continues to draw so many visitors each year. With rich history and astounding architecture, Moscow continues to hold great influence in the world, evident in its nickname of "The Third Rome." When looking at Moscow skyline pictures, it's easy to find inspiration to visit this remarkable city.
