Sydney, Australia Skyline Pictures

As the capital of New South Wales and largest city in Australia, Sydney skyline pictures proudly display a city claimed to hold the most beautiful harbor in the world. This stunning hub is frequented with seemingly countless sailboats, cruise ships and yachts. Aerial photography commonly focuses on the most iconic building in the metropolis: the Sydney Opera House. This was created surrounding a design contest during the 1950s, and was open to international entries. The facility houses the Opera Australia, the Australian Ballet, the Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The Sydney Opera House is one of the most immediately recognizable buildings in the world and has become a prime attraction for tourists because of its beautiful, but unique expressionist architectural style. As perhaps the most famous performing arts center worldwide, the structure has been unsurprisingly listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In our panoramic skyline photos it is also easy to identify the Sydney Harbour Bridge, an uplifting highlight for city residents with its completion in 1932. Following the Depression and World War II, a significant influx of European and Asian immigrants have come to settle in this diverse city. Centered in downtown is the famous Centerpoint Tower, nicknamed the "Sydney Tower" by city residents. This is the city's tallest structure, completed in 1981 and designed by Donald Crone. Regulations limit construction today to 771 feet due to the close proximity of Sydney Airport, giving Sydney Tower a unique advantage among other skyscrapers to come.

Other great features of Sydney skyline pictures are the city's many parks, gardens, and access to waterways. One of the most prominent of these natural features is the Royal Botanic Gardens, open every day of the year since 1816. Sydney has hosted a number of major international sporting events, such as the Commonwealth Games and the 2000 Summer Olympics. As a high ranking world city, Sydney panoramic views show us a beautiful city surrounded by national parks, beaches, and crystal clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. While there are many beautiful cities and locales to see in Australia, from viewing a Sydney panorama this city should rank near the top of anyone's list.
