Prague, Czech Republic Skyline Pictures

As the capital of, and largest city in the Czech Republic, Prague is an urban area home to over 2 million residents. As the historical capital of the former country of Bohemia, buildings seen within Prague panoramic pictures are an interesting collection of Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance style architecture. Founded around 200 BC, Prague skyline pictures today showcase a modern, yet iconic and romanticized vision of the city. As the former capital of the Roman Empire and home to two Roman Emperors, Prague later became a central point of power for the Habsburgh monarchy and Austro-Hungarian Empire prior to World War I.

One of its most iconic landmarks today is the Charles Bridge, built during the 1300s and the only connection spanning the two halves of the city across the Vltava River for over 400 years. Prague's location on this river helped it to develop as a major hub for trade and transportation in central Europe. Another tourist destination is the Prague TV Tower, the tallest in the city, with three towers with nine pods for city skyline observation. In stark contrast to this is Prague Castle, a medieval fortress home to Czech kings from the 800s and now the residence of the Czech President.

Home to many famous cultural sites, Prague skyline pictures display a city extensively restored to become one of the most popular destinations in central Europe. With many major museums, theaters, art galleries and other historical exhibits, Prague is home to more than just beautiful scenery - it represents a city offering a number of attractions and sights.
