Times Square, New York Panoramic Picture - Twilight

SKU: NYTS3
This panorama of Times Square was taken by James Blakeway. In 1904, long before the showcase of neon lights and digital big-screen technology, the area named Longacre Square, located at the junction of Broadway and 7th Avenue, stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets, was renamed Times Square. Fast forward 100-plus years and, today, Time Square is a symbol of the American spirit and a popular tourist destination. It is one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections and a cultural mecca of entertainment. It is here that the New Year's Eve ball is dropped and the ever-changing NASDAQ sign reports the fortunes and misfortunes of a nation.

Times Square, NY Panoramic Pictures

Panoramic pictures of Times Square in Midtown Manhattan, New York City encompass one of the busiest intersections in the world and a major center of international entertainment. As the most popular international tourist attraction, the district is named after "The New York Times" newspaper publication, whose corporate offices are the site of the famous Times Square ball drop on New Years' Eve.

A cultural hub of Broadway plays, other stage productions, music halls, and upscale hotels, Times Square panoramas capture one of the most colorful areas in any metropolis with hundreds of brightly-lit, flashing and colorful signs and monitors feverishly trying to out-do each other for passerby attention. Panoramic images of the New York City skyline show that Times Square is the most vibrant of them all, and the only neighborhood with a zoning ordinance requiring building owners to display large, illuminated signs.

Some of the most famous displays seen in Times Square panoramic images include the 7 story tall NASDAQ display, the Toshiba billboard beneath the New Years' Eve ball drop location, and massive LED displays owned by Samsung and Coca-Cola.
