First played in 1894, the Civil War is the colloquial name for the annual college football game in Oregon between the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers. It is the seventh-oldest college football rivalry game in the United States. The game's location generally rotates on an annual basis, played in Corvallis in even-numbered years and in Eugene in odd-numbered years. The first reference to the Civil War name was in 1929 and came into common use in 1937. Prior to that, it was called the "Oregon Classic" or the "State Championship Game."

The new Matthew Knight Arena is a game-changer on many levels and is considered the most innovative and unique basketball arena in the United States. Inside walls document every significant event in Oregon basketball history, including memories of McArthur Court, the Ducks' previous home for 84 years. The unique floor, named after Pat Kilkenny, features symbolic references to the Pacific Northwest, Oregon's 1939 National Championship and Matthew Knight, son of benefactor Phil Knight for whom the arena is named.

This panorama, taken by James Blakeway, captures a defining moment in the 101st Rose Bowl Game. The No. 2 ranked Oregon Ducks, champions of the Pac-12 Conference, recovered a fumble and returned the ball 58 yards for a touchdown, to ultimately defeat the No. 3 ranked Florida State Seminoles. The Ducks broke 10 records in Rose Bowl history, including Most Touchdowns (8) and Most Points Scored (59). This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams, as well as the first-ever College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl Game. Oregon finished the regular season with a 12-1 overall record and returned to the Rose Bowl Game for their seventh appearance and their third all-time win.

To the left, behind Howe Field softball diamond, is MacArthur Court. Centered in the background behind Hayward Field, is Autzen Stadium, home to the Oregon Ducks football team. This panorama of McArthur Court, taken by Christopher Gjevre, captures the University of Oregon Ducks basketball team playing their final PAC-10 season in this historic facility. Also known as "The Pit" and "Mac Court," McArthur Court opened in 1926 and is the second oldest on-campus arena in the nation still in use. Due to its history, character and atmosphere, it has been considered one of the toughest arenas for opposing teams. With seating for only 9,087 fans, a new arena is now scheduled to open in 2011. Located on campus, the new Matthew Knight Arena will accommodate over 12,500 fans. At an estimated cost of $100 million, it will be the most expensive on-campus basketball arena in the US.

Played on Halloween night 2009 to a record-breaking crowd of 59, 592, it was the largest crowd to ever witness a football game in the State of Oregon. Autzen Stadium was built in 1967 for $2.5 million and named in honor of Portland lumberman and philanthropist, Thomas J. Autzen. It received a $90 million facelift in 2002, expanding its seating capacity to 54,000. The Stadium consistently ranks among the nation's top 5 venues for its deafening decibel levels due in part to its unique bowl-shape configuration.
