Homestead-Miami Speedway Panoramic Picture

SKU: HMS1
This aerial panorama of Homestead-Miami Speedway was taken by James Blakeway during the Ford Championship Weekend and the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Championship. Located just outside of Miami, this 1.5-mile oval track started as an idea to help Miami-Dade County recover after Hurricane Andrew devastated the area in 1992. The track opened in 1995, with its inaugural NASCAR NEXTEL cup race on November 14, 1999. The original configuration was a flat oval. Today, after several expansion and renovation projects, the current track has "graduated" 18 to 20-degree variable banked turns, and unique pastel colors that give it a distinctive "South Beach" look. Since it opened, the track has doubled its capacity to 70,000 seats.

Homestead, Florida has been the site of the Homestead-Miami Speedway since its opening in 1995. This exciting track has several possible configurations, making it the site for a number of annual races and events. Widely-attended races throughout the year include events for NASCAR, the Verizon IndyCar Series, the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, and the Championship Cup Series. Since 2002, the track has hosted the final race of the season for all three of NASCAR's series: the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and the Camping World Truck Series.

The unique flair of Miami architecture can be spotted in and around the track, capturing the Art Deco designs that nearby Miami Beach is so famous for. With a seating capacity of up to 70,000 at major events, this has grown to become one of the greatest venues in auto racing.
