Former Penguins coach “Badger” Bob Johnson came to Pittsburgh in 1990 with a dream of one day raising just one banner into the rafters, he must be smiling down to see how many banners are hanging from there today. Once again, it was a Great Day for Hockey in Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Penguins® celebrated their fifth Stanley Cup® Championship with a 2-0 victory over the Nashville Predators® on June 11, 2017, in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final. The first goal of the game, the game winner, was scored with only 1:35 left in the 3rd period. With this win, the Penguins became the first back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions in 19 years. The Penguins capped their 50th Anniversary season with their fifth Stanley Cup win, and all five championships were won on the road. Aside from the Original Six™ franchises, no team in the NHL® has won more Stanley Cup titles than the Pittsburgh Penguins.
