The Bison compiled a 71-5 record during the historic run, including an FCS record 33-game winning streak.

Having won the championship in 2011, 2012 and 2013, the Bison were not strangers to this coveted event. In the end, the game boiled down to which team made more plays, and on a cold Saturday in Frisco, Texas, once again it was NDSU. The Bison’s 29-27 nail-biting victory over the Redbirds made them the first-ever Division I team to win four straight national titles and, with the win, they moved into a tie with only one other school for second place on the FCS title leaderboard, with four.

Nothing was going to satisfy the Bison but perfection, and perfect they were. The Bison whipped Towson 35-7 before a rocking 19,802 fan base at Toyota Stadium to complete a perfect season and become the second Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) program to win a third straight national championship. Overall, the Bison were 43-2 the last three seasons, and their senior class was 52-7 with four straight trips to at least the FCS quarterfinals.
