Hong Kong, China Skyline Pictures

Located on the south coast of China, Hong Kong panoramic pictures show one of the most populated cities in the world, surrounded by the brilliantly blue waters of the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea. The city is internationally known for expansive pictures of the Hong Kong skyline and its deep natural harbor, making the city one of the world's leaders in shipping and finance.

As one of the first points of contact between British sailors and Chinese tradesmen during the 1800s, modern Hong Kong pictures don't remotely suggest the true lengthy history of the region, which was settled between 35,000 and 39,000 years ago. However, it was rapid development of the city during the 1800s that brought about the sudden population growth which is responsible for the Hong Kong skyline pictures visible today. At any point in history however, Victoria Harbor has been the focus of construction and the location of most skyscrapers seen in modern Hong Kong photos. As a major attraction of Hong Kong, streets lining the harbor have many shops and points of interest popular with both residents and tourists.

Perhaps the most famous building to be spotted in a Hong Kong skyline picture is the Bank of China Tower, which was the first building outside the U.S. to exceed 1,000 feet in height. Bank of China Tower stands out in Hong Kong pictures because of its irregular shape and triangular mirrored panels. Central Plaza is another skyscraper that can be seen in Hong Kong panoramic photos; with a pyramid-shaped spire, it reaches 1,227 feet in height and was completed in 1995.

With one of the most highly developed transportation systems in the world, Hong Kong pictures show a city traversed by rail, bus and ferry, and a favorite tourist destination via cruise ship. As a world leader in international finance, Hong Kong takes advantage of its time zone status and has four stock exchanges within the city that are open 24 hours a day, making the city a popular destination for business. Whether visiting the city for work or for pleasure, Hong Kong skyline pictures show us a diverse city running around the clock, bringing something exciting and new for travelers and residents alike to enjoy at any hour of the day.
