Wisconsin Badgers Panoramic - Camp Randall Picture

Wisconsin Badgers Panoramic - Camp Randall Picture

SKU: UWI3
This panoramic photograph of the University of Wisconsin Badgers football team playing on their home field at Camp Randall Stadium was taken by Nathan Haler. The first Badger football team took the field in 1889 and upon formation of the Big Ten conference in 1896, they became the first-ever conference champion. The team's nickname originates in Wisconsin's early history, when miners came to the state looking for minerals, but without shelter in the winter they had to "live like badgers" in tunnels burrowed into hillsides. As a result, the territory was dubbed the "Badger State," from which the team took its name. The Badgers' success includes numerous conference championships and Rose Bowl victories.

This panorama at Lambeau Field marks the first time a major college football game was played at the legendary 59-year-old NFL shrine. The atmosphere at the sold-out Lambeau Field College Classic was palpable with two powerhouse programs squaring off. The Wisconsin Badgers® from the Big Ten and the LSU Tigers® from the SEC are members of two conferences who rarely meet during the regular season. This was one of those moments when the tradition-rich venue made the contest special, particularly for the Wisconsin fans who received an extra bonus at the end of the day with a 16-14 victory over LSU.

For sports fans, no visit to the campus is complete without a trip to Camp Randall Stadium™. The Badger football team has played here each fall since 1917, but the stadium received its’ name because it lies on the grounds of Camp Randall, a former Union Army training camp during the Civil War. Nearby is the Kohl Center™, home of Badger basketball, wrestling and hockey.

Fast-forward a century or more and, today, the Badgers continue to be a powerhouse of the Big Ten Conference. The Badgers play their home games at the 17,249-seat Kohl Center, where they have one of the best home winning records in college basketball.

This panorama of the University of Wisconsin's Kohl Center was photographed by Christopher Gjevre. The Kohl Center opened in 1998 in Madison, Wisconsin and is named in honor of United States Senator Herb Kohl, who donated $25 million to the project. The facility is home to the University of Wisconsin hockey and basketball teams, for both the men and women's programs. It's the third largest indoor venue in the state, with a hockey game capacity of more than 15,000. Modeled after the University of Wisconsin Field House, it uses a cantilever design that gives great sightlines and brings spectators closer to the sporting event.

University of Wisconsin Badgers Panoramic Pictures | Wisconsin Badgers Logo

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is represented as the Wisconsin Badgers in NCAA Division I/FBS in the Big Ten Conference. Our panoramic pictures capture the excitement from the games of the cardinal and white from aerial images of the campus, as well as views from Camp Randall Stadium and Kohl Center. Football, basketball and ice hockey are the most beloved programs from the University of Wisconsin. The program is nicknamed after the state moniker as the "Badger State" because of miners in the 1800s who burrowed into hillsides during harsh winters to survive. The fan antics during Badger homegames continue to showcase this steadfastness today.

Built in 1917, panoramas from Camp Randall Stadium display the fourth-oldest playing ground for college football in the nation. Despite the venue's age, it seats over 80,000 fans during home games and is famous for housing one of the loudest student sections in collegiate football.

The Kohl Center is newer addition to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, opening in 1998 and home to Wisconsin basketball, hockey, and wrestling. The venue accommodates over 17,000 fans during home basketball and over 15,000 during hockey games. The Kohl Center is the third-largest sports venue in Wisconsin. Whatever your passion, any of these panoramas bring exciting views for Badgers fans across Wisconsin and beyond, and can be cherished anywhere they are displayed.
