This panorama of the San Jose Sharks® was taken by James Blakeway. The Sharks joined the NHL® in 1991 and have become one of the league’s most successful franchises, on and off the ice. The team made history in 1994, compiling the largest single-season turnaround in NHL history, finishing with 82 points, a 58-point jump from the previous season. That year, they also earned their first Stanley Cup® Playoff series victory when the No. 8 seeded Sharks defeated the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Detroit Red Wings®, another NHL first.  The Sharks are famous for their pre-game entrance to the ice when the players skate out through a 17-foot tall shark mouth with fog pouring out and eyes flashing red.
