The fall 2015 season marked the debut of a $13.9 million, 190 by 57 foot, video scoreboard. At 10,830 square feet and over 8.7 million LED lights, it is the largest video scoreboard in college football.

The game came down to the last play when the Tigers returned a missed field-goal attempt for more than 100 yards for a touchdown to lift No. 4 Auburn to a 34-28 victory over No. 1 Alabama. The Iron Bowl is the annual football rivalry played between the two largest public universities in the state of Alabama and this game was one of the most dramatic in the rivalry’s 78-year history, as the fans flooded the field in celebration. Auburn Football has a long and storied history, beginning in 1892, when George Petrie organized the first team and led the Tigers to a 2-2 record. Petrie also chose burnt orange and navy blue as the official colors for Auburn athletic teams, inspired by his alma mater. Auburn was led by nine different coaches over a 12-year span, which most notably included John Heisman (1895-1899), for whom the Heisman Trophy is named. Today, the Auburn Tigers claim two "National Championship" titles. Auburn University was chartered on February 7, 1856.
