Cardiff, Wales Skyline Pictures

As the capital and largest city of Wales, Cardiff skyline pictures show the 10th largest city in the United Kingdom. It is one of the earliest-documented cities in the region, originally settled over 6,000 years ago, although the city was not incorporated until 1905. The Cardiff skyline panoramic pictures we have today show a city with increasingly modern structures, as it has experienced significant development since the 1990s.

Perhaps the most interesting natural feature seen in pictures of Cardiff is the River Taff, which flows through the city. This river has historically held great importance for the city, including the Roman fort built at the mouth of the river in 75 A.D., which is today the center of the city. Significant developments have occurred surrounding the River Taff and Cardiff Bay in recent years, which is noticeable in Cardiff photos. Some of these new buildings include the Senedd building and the Wales Millennium Centre arts complex. One might not guess from a Cardiff skyline picture that the city is the largest media center in the United Kingdom outside of London.

One of the most recognizable buildings in Cardiff panoramic photos is the Millennium Stadium, which has a retractable roof well-suited to the temperamental weather changes common in Wales. This building is home to the Welsh Rugby Union and FAW Football, and has contributed a significant amount to the Cardiff economy since its completion in 1999. As seen next to the stadium in Cardiff skyline panoramas is BT Stadium House, which is the second tallest building in the city. The city is also well known for hosting a number of football games during the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Another iconic building seen in Cardiff panoramic pictures is St David's Hotel & Spa, a uniquely-shaped five-star hotel positioned right on Cardiff Bay. Spotted nearby in Cardiff photos is the Wales Millennium Centre, one of the city's major tourist attractions which is a performing arts center.

Cardiff skyline pictures show a city lush with beautiful greenery positioned at the mouth of the River Taff. As one of the most significant tourist destinations in Wales, National Geographic even ranked the city as the 6th most popular alternative tourist destination. The beauty and appeal of this city is plain to see when viewing any panoramic photos of Cardiff, Wales.
