Norfolk, VA Skyline Pictures

As the second largest city in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Norfolk skyline pictures show a city home to a quarter million residents, founded in 1682. A common destination for those interested in East Coast history, the development of the Norfolk city skyline is due to its legacy as a strategic military and transportation point. Norfolk Naval Base is the largest naval base in the world outside of Russia, and home to the largest military alliance.

With many miles of riverfront and bayfront property, the landscape and choices in construction seen in Norfolk skyline pictures are unique and distinct of its region. An example of this architecture seen in Norfolk skyline pictures is the Nauticus, a maritime-themed science center, framed by the Battleship Wisconsin.

One of the tallest buildings in Norfolk skyline pictures is the Bank of America Center, and is one of the most recognizable features of the city's downtown area. It was the tallest building in Virginia until 1971, when it was overtaken by Richmond City Hall.

As the commercial and cultural center for its region, Norfolk skyline pictures continue to show a region influenced by the defense, shipbuilding, shipping, and manufacturing industries. Even if you don't visit the city for business, Norfolk is a city of rich American and cultural heritage.
