Oslo, Norway Skyline Pictures

Originally founded as a Viking settlement over a millennium ago, Oslo, Norway is a metropolis that has grown to become the capital of, and most populated city in Norway, with over 1.4 million residents. As the primary center of Norwegian banking, industry and shipping, Oslo skyline pictures showcase a city that has grown to become one of the most important ports of trade in Europe. As the fastest growing city in Europe, Oslo has a rapidly-expanding skyline of increasingly modern design. Located on a point within the Oslo Fjord, the skyscrapers are home to many of the world's largest shipping corporations, maritime insurance companies and ship brokers. The architecture depicted in Oslo skyline pictures is becoming increasingly multicultural, as the city owes its sudden population growth not only for its economic status, but also its appeal to immigrants with large families.

One of its most prominent landmarks is the Holmenkollen Skijump, a national skiing arena that features an observatory. Another building prominently seen in Oslo skyline pictures is City Hall, with a large clock on one of its towers and an excellent example of functionalist architecture. Akershus Fortress and Castle is another major tourist destination, built in the 1200s and since developed into a fortress.

Oslo skyline pictures display one of the most fascinating locations to visit in Scandinavia. Whether you are inspired by the iconic architecture of this city or its picturesque location within the Oslo Fjord, this jewel of Norway is definitely worth visiting to experience for yourself.
