Cape Neddick Light Panoramic Picture - Maine Lighthouse

SKU: CPN1
This panoramic photograph of Cape Neddick Light was taken by James Blakeway. President Rutherford B. Hayes signed the order establishing this light in 1879. The 40-foot cast-iron tower is located in Maine on a rocky island referred to as "the Nubble" off the eastern point of Cape Neddick . The white bucket suspended on a line across the channel was used to transport supplies and is now used to transport maintenance equipment. The lighthouse was automated in 1987. The town of York now manages the surrounding property, having received more than 300 unsolicited offers from people wanting to be live-in caretakers.

Cape Neddick Nubble Lighthouse Panoramic Pictures

Located in York, Maine, Cape Neddick Nubble Lighthouse panoramas feature one of the oldest lighthouses still in operation in the U.S., situated on a rocky island off the point of Cape Neddick known as "the Nubble." Constructed in 1979, the buildings are currently unoccupied, but maintained by the town of York and fully automated.

While the site is inaccessible to tourists, the beauty of this early American structure is wonderfully captured in Cape Neddick Lighthouse pictures. A common example of North American lighthouses and an icon of early Americana, the classic, famous imagery of the Cape Neddick lighthouse was even included with images of Earth sent on the Voyager spacecraft.
