The organization’s fifth championship is the culmination of their Presidents’ Trophy-winning season, which opened with an NHL®-record 24-game point streak and led to a Western Conference title and, ultimately, a 4-2 series win. The matchup was the first time the two storied teams have faced off in the postseason since the 1978 Quarterfinals. Chicago’s win marks the tenth time an Original Six™ team has been crowned champion since 1979, the last time two Original Six teams faced off in a Final series.

The Blackhawks captured the 2013 Presidents’ Trophy after posting a National Hockey League®-leading 77 points during the regular season. Chicago’s fifth consecutive Stanley Cup® Playoffs berth started with a five-game series win over the Wild. The Blackhawks’ 5-1 victory in Game 5 was witnessed by 21,597 fans at the United Center, marking the franchise’s 217th consecutive capacity crowd dating back to 2008.
